Mahone's Wallpaper Shop

Mahone's Wallpaper Shop launched its e-commerce site 17 years ago and is one of the oldest wallpaper sites online. Since launching our website, we have been committed to providing exclusive products to consumers. Although our website has been operational for 17 years, Mahone's has a history that predates it.

Mahone's Wallcovering Inc. was started in 1969 by W. W. Mahone. When he started the business, he had a simple plan. He aimed to offer high-quality products at competitive prices, backed by a level of customer service unmatched by anyone else. W.W. was no stranger to hard work, being a paper hanger himself, so he set off to make his dream a reality.

Mahone's started in a small house in Lynchburg, VA. W.W. carefully transformed each bedroom into a beautiful showroom to display the wallpapers he had to offer. Low on money, he contacted a local concrete company and offered to take the leftover concrete off their hands by having them dump it into his yard. With hard work, he utilized this concrete to create the parking lot for his new business. To make his house and new business stand out amongst the other residential and commercial properties in the area, W.W. grabbed a paintbrush and put on a bright new coat of red paint. Now with a proper storefront, W.W. hit the pavement, letting everyone from the newspapers to the neighbors know about Mahone's Wallcovering.

For the past 40-plus years, Mahone's has changed very little. You can still find Carolyn Mahone, W.W.'s daughter-in-law, in the showroom helping local decorators make the perfect choices in wallpapers, fabrics, blinds, and more. W.W.'s son Walter still pops in every day to say "hello" and see how things are going. While Danny, Walter's senior son, moved on to pursue a different dream, his hard work and dedication to the company helped keep it going.

Mahone's has always been a family business, and that tradition carries on even today. W.W. would be proud to see his grandson, Patrick, and his wife, Melissa, moving Mahone's into the modern era. While the little red house has been upgraded to one of the largest showrooms in Virginia, and the face-to-face customer service now includes a successful online business, one thing has never changed. Mahone's is dedicated to providing quality products for your home while offering an unmatched level of customer service.
